Supporting Family Health Care Decisions

Family Health Care Decisions Act

The legislation proposed by the NYS Task Force on Life and the Law was introduced, with some modifications, in the early 1990s. Assembly Health Committee chair, Richard Gottfried discussed this legislation in his Health News Bulletin in December 1994. The Task Force has prepared a Questions and Answers page about the bill.

The most recent version of the FHCDA are available at the Assembly website: A.6993 and S.5522. The New York Family Health Care Decisions Act has been supported by a number of organizations representing a cross section of New York health care, religious and human services groups.
